Do You Need a MiracleToo?

Sometimes blogs are SO amusing. I mean do people really walk around looking like a magazine model, playing games with their kids while making gourmet meals, all while they somehow keep the house immaculate as they date their darling and perfect husband, as together they read the scriptures, and say the perfect things to one another and their children too, while getting online degrees and working their fulfilling full time job (which is somehow a white collar version of feeding the homeless, of course)? Oh, and do they weed the garden with their toes and scrapbook it all, to boot? No, I know, we don't want to see each others messes. Ahem.

But anyway, I think you've noticed, my life is not like this. THANK HEAVENS! Well, people here is some reality for you. This is not a picture of today, but today is not far off, unfortunately. And wow, if I accomplish ONE little task to completion today, it will be a miracle! We all need a miracle sometimes, don't we? But, life is good. Now... back to the...uh...scrapbooking. Or something.

Toys I love!

I admit to NOT having a knack for buying toys with great play value. So when I do, I take note. Here's a few I love. And if you are kind enough I would LOVE some ideas back!!! (See above: no natural knack).

The Cat in the Hat Game is SO FUN! It is an active game with 3D objects for the 3-4 ish year old crowd. We all love to play it though! I bought it last year on Amazon for $8.99, you might want to watch Amazon for a lower price. They change, I have found.
Iron Man Rocket Blast Launcher was also purchased from Amazon. I was worried that this was too flimsy when we got it as it's made of foam, but it is still surviving (with care) and is SUPER FUN. It really does blast high--great initial shock value.
If you have a little one don't underestimate the play value of blocks. They are one of the most well-used toys we have ever gotten --you might be surprised at what your kids will come up with. All children should have blocks!

Sadly, this is the extent of my brilliance on the subject of toys. Now, share yours, it's bound to be more extensive than mine!

Crafts?!

When you are not so into crafting yourself, and so don't create as many projects as your kids may enjoy, I have found kids do a pretty good job creating things on their own. Phew. Can I use that to lose the guilt?

Mary Jane's Pumpkin Cookies

Mary Jane's Pumpkin Cookies

1 1/2 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
16 oz canned pumpkin
1 cup chocolate chips
4 cups flour
2 cups oatmeal
2 tsp soda
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt

Cream together butter, sugar and vanilla. Add pumpkin. Combine dry ingredients, then add to creamed mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Isaac, who doesn't like frosting or regular chocolate chip cookies, finds these a favorite. Enjoy!
